Bracket busting upset

The #9 Northern Iowa Panthers have just upset the overall #1 seed Kansas Jayhawks 69-67. This by far is the biggest upset of the tournament. They become the first team to beat a No. 1 seed in the second round since UAB over Kentucky and Alabama did it to Stanford in 2004.

#8 seeded Jacksonville Dolphins (20-12, 14-6), from the Atlantic Sun, upset the #1 seeded Arizona State Sun Devils (22-11, 12-5), from the PAC 10, 67-66. ASU was ahead 65-60 with 20 seconds left in the 2nd half. Then Ayron Hardy (Jacksonville) makes a layup now its 65-62. Selection Sunday

March 14

The field of 65 has been announced. The 4 #1 seeds in order are Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and Syracuse. My preseason national championship game was Kansas and Kentucky and I am going to stick to it. There are a lot of interesting 1st round games like Marquette vs Washington, Gonzaga vs Florida State, Oklahoma State vs Georgia Tech and Texas vs Wake Forest. I was really surprised that Washington got an 11 seed after beating Cal in the PAC 10 Championship. BTW can we please get rid of the play in game between Arkansas Pine Bluff and Winthrop.
Arizona and the NIT

March 14

Projections have us a 7 seed in the NIT. For all of the People doubting the fact that Arizona won't make the NIT you need to rethink that. C.M. Newton is the NIT commissioner and he recruited Sean Miller to come to Arizona. I am just saying.

Arizona Basketball Awards Banquet

March 8 2010

I went to the Arizona Basketball Awards Banquet tonight. I thought that it was pretty good. I got to meet the whole team and Coach Miller was at my table. The coolest guys on this team are MoMo, D-Will and Nic. The one thing that I missed was when the players would give each other really funny things. Some of the Awards given out were the Golden A award to Kyle and Max, the Most Improved to MoMo and The Captains Nic and D-Will.

College Basketball

March 6

The best finish so far today came from the USC-Arizona game. It was Senior Day today for Nic Wise. Arizona was down by as many as 11 in the 2nd half and came back and Kyle Fogg hit 3 free throws at the end of the 2nd half to send it into overtime tied at 69. Then in the first overtime Arizona was up by as much by 6 but they let USC come back and tie it to send the game into double overtime tied at 78. Then the 2nd overtime it was tied at 84 with 12 seconds left then the Senior Nic Wise scores a lay up with 00.2 left that was the game winner. This is the 3rd straight game where they have come back from double digit deficits to win. UCLA by 14 and Stanford by 11.
