The Arizona Wildcats (12-9, 6-3) got a HUGE win over California (14-7, 6-3) to make a tie for 1st in the PAC 10. The final score was Arizona 76 California 72.

College basketball upset

The #1 Kentucky Wildcats lost at South Carolina. Thanks to Devan Downey who absolutely nobody could stop. There are no undefeated teams left in college basketball. Also Boston College upset #21 Clemson.

I just got word that Lane Kiffin (who was the head coach at Tennessee for 1 season) will be named the next USC coach. Expect to hear his news conference tomorrow evening

Arizona looked really impressive. Arizona seemed like they could not miss. They started out with an 8-0 run.

College football notes

Pete Carroll is rumored to be the leading candidate to replace Jim Mora as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. He wants to bring Jeremy Bates who is the offensive coordinator with him. Pete Carroll has agreed in principle to a 5 year $35 million contract.

South Florida has fired coach Jim Leavitt.

Texas Tech is expected to announce former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville as their head coach

National Champs

Breaking News: The Alabama Crimson Tide have won the national championship. They defeated Texas 37-21. This is their first ever win over Texas (1-7-1)

Breaking news: Former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden has lost 14 wins. This is due to the academic cheating scandal. He finishes with 375 total wins. He finished 2nd behind Joe Pa in wins (394).

USC basketball, Florida

January 3 2010

USC basketball has put sanctions on their basketball team. Their sanctions include:
• No postseason play in 2009-10, including the Pac-10 Conference Tournament.
• A reduction of one scholarship for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 academic years.
• Reducing the number of coaches permitted to recruit off-campus by one during the summer of 2010.
• Reducing the number of recruiting days for the 2010-11 academic year, to 110 from 130.
They also will vacate all their wins from the 2007-08 season. 

Florida junior CB Joe Haden has declared for the upcoming NFL draft.
